The latest project

What do you do on holidays on a 40-degree day? Work outdoors, building a deck, of course!

Front portico decking almost complete:

The lower section is on the agenda for tomorrow.....

How cool is this? Bike Boy spotted this idea at a display home and shamelessly copied it. Not only is our deck flush with the brick door sill, but the doormat is flush with the decking. Beautifully framed too:

You don't get much more Aussie than this....a spotted gum deck at the entrance, plus a dirty old pair of Blunnies. :o)

Now that is a great idea Kek! The flushed door mat gives it a professional look to your decking. Does the mat come out btw? I cant wait to see your landscaping and I also like the exposed aggregate driveway...what colour did you pick?

Mrs B, the doormat absolutely comes out - so we can replace it when it gets all grotty, as doormats do. Occasionally my husband has a brilliant idea. :o)

The exposed agg wasn't a specific colour, I just asked for the darkest grey they could do. The guy added dark grey pigment to the concrete and extra black quartz to the aggregate mix. We can make it darker if we seal it. Tempting, but then you have to keep doing it every couple of years.

I'm all about the low-maintenance....

Thanks Toni.

We just had the landscaping guy measure up the front yard - it should all be completed within the next three weeks. I can't wait!

I'd better start lookng at pavers for our path.... *sigh* More $$$!

The $$$ never stop! I'm so looking forward to seeing your garden and path done. I love looking at your (and Mozzie's) facades.
