Batten down the hatches!

I've just been outside and moved all my pot plants into the al fresco room, put away watering cans, brooms and so forth in the garage and made sure there's nothing loose lying around to be picked up by the ridiculous WINDS we're expecting tonight and tomorrow.

Hope the experts are wrong. I'm sick of this fire danger crap. And I need to water my garden tomorrow - doing that in a howling wind is no fun.

My girls came home from school yesterday and said that their school has been closed on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday. So I decided that I would keep B home from Kinder as well, I'd rather have them all here with me. So I wake up at 9am and it's raining and not a breath of wind!!! It's a bit breezy out there now, don't think we are going to get to 32 though....it's a bit chilly.

Looks like the BoM have downgraded the forecast a bit. Winds up to 60kmh now...

They're still saying 32 though.

My kids have classes as usual, but they're further south, so there should be no dramas, even if there are fires. Let's hope not.

Think I spoke too soon :-) Pretty windy this afternoon and we got to 30. I had to laugh when I looked outside and saw that Steve had tied the pool to the alfresco pillar :-)

My kids have enjoyed another day at home playing. I've been too sore to move....that's another story...

It's a bit scary, especially with all the builder's debris lying around the area.

There are fire alerts out for the Whittlesea area, including Yan Yean - probably nothing to worry about, but I noticed the Plenty CFA had trucks and crews ready to roll late this arvo. Seemed a bit quieter at Sth Morang, although at least one truck was out.

Good to know those guys are on the job.

I think falling tree branches and power blackouts are a bigger risk than the fires, at least around here.
