As you can see, I gave up trying to remove all of the old finish from the carved details. It won't matter though, it all adds to the character. Well, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
As for what I'm going to use it for... Well, this old dressing table is about to become a unique drinks cabinet. Details will be posted, I promise.

Actually, I think it looks great with the old finish still showing. After all you want to retain the piece's character, don't you ?
That's looking so good. I love wooden furniture when you can see the grain.
Thanks, girls. I'm getting stuck into it this morning, right after I wash the dishes, take the kids to school, pick up a couple of things from Bunnings, go to the post office, grab supplies from the supermarket, and do a quick tidy-up.
Yeah, like straight away. I love a day off. *rolls eyes*
